Introduction to Telehealth: Speech Therapy Provides Helpful Tips and Advice for People Beginning Telehealth

BROOKLYN, NY, UNITED STATES September 16, 2020 | On Wednesday, Shema Kolainu – Hear Our Voice (SKHOV) hosted a free webinar workshop presented by Speech Language Pathologist, Leah Diamant, M.S., CCC-SLP, TSSLD.

During the two-hour long presentation entitled Introduction to Telehealth: Speech Therapy” Diamant gave an overview of several studies that have shown the efficacy of teletherapy, as well as sharing vital resources and educational tools for parents and educators who are currently taking part in or beginning telehealth sessions.

“Although a lot of us feel like we have been thrown into telehealth, and we are conducting out of necessity, I want to prove that there is research behind it and we are actually implementing evidence-based practice for children,” said Diamant.

Along with sharing helpful resources for clinicians conducting teletherapy, Diamant presented sample telehealth speech therapy sessions and held a discussion with participants to review how to have an effective telehealth session.

“Our staff at Shema Kolainu – Hear Our Voices made the transition to e-learning seamless for our children,” said SKHOV founder and CEO Dr. Joshua Weinstein.  “This experience has given us invaluable information that we can share to make these sessions a little better for children with autism.”

Over three hundred participants from around the world joined in to view Diamant’s presentation.

The autism webinar workshop was made possible through a grant by the New York City Council Autism Initiative and a full video of the presentation, along with many others, is available here:
