MEILICH

Classroom 204

Meilich always struggled being around large groups of people. He would get very shy and try to leave the activity. Meilich’s parents expressed interest in him learning essential workplace skills so that one day he can have a job.

Meilich’s teachers implemented a “volunteer program” so he could learn to interact with others in different workplaces around the community. Through step-by-step exposure and a lot of positive reinforcement from his teacher’s, Meilich slowly learned how to interact with other people in stores while working on skills, such as following a shopping list, folding cake boxes, or scanning items for checkout. Now, he looks forward to those activities and loves to interact with his new friends.
